Who were The Kinks?

The Kinks were an English rock band  that formed in Muswell Hill, North London in 1963. The original band members were Dave Davies, Ray Davies , Pete Quaife, and Mick Avory. 

The Kinks' rise to fame

The band was popularized in 1964 during the height of British rhythm and blue. Although they were briefly part of the British Invasion of the United States, they were a big influence in music. Between the mid-1960s and early 1970s, the group released a mass of hit singles. They gained a reputation for their songs reflecting on the English culture and lifestyle, so much reputation that the singles are considered some of the most influential recordings of the period.

 

When did you first hear about The Kinks?

Where are they now?

The Kinks broke up in 1996. Although The Kinks broke up, they left a long trail to remember. Four of their albums were certified gold by the RIAA, and in 1990, the original four members of were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as well as the UK Music Hall of Fame in November 2005. In addition, groups such as Van Halen, the Jam, the Knack, the Pretenders and the Fall covered their songs, helping to boost the Kinks' record sales. In the 1990s,   Many bands such as Blur and Oasis cited the band as a major influence and are still regarded as one of the most important and influential rock groups of the era
